Read Part 1 (Danielle and Stella)

Read Part 2 (Manasa and Nate)

What this story means to me... (Laiken)

Unpacking a new word from the text... (Laken B)

Over the last couple of weeks the students have worked hard on a shared reading challenge.

We have...
  • Listened to the story for enjoyment of this classic tale.
  • Unpacked the moral of the story as well as some of the tricky / new vocabulary in the story.
  • Completed a Cloze reading activity (where the students have to replace words taken out of the story by choosing from the words in a box at the top of the page).
  • Sequenced parts of the story (back) into the correct order.
  • Illustrated the story- taking care to reread the sections of the story they were illustrating so as to match correct / detailed illustrations with the text.
  • Created a GLOSSARY to unpack new / tricky vocabulary from the text.
  • Answered questions about the text; e.g., What is a moral? What is the moral of THIS story? When the author said- 'The hare was 'much amused' at the idea of having a race with the tortoise,' what do you think he meant?
