A Stranger In Room Five...

Image
This morning we got a huge surprise when we entered the classroom! Check out the photos and the video of what we found. It looks like He Puna Tārei have a mystery to solve! We look forward to some fun and interesting stories from the children about what they think happened. :)

Happy Birthday :)

Children enjoy their cupcakes on their birthdays! As an extra special treat on Daniel's birthday, the lovely Miss Roberts made ALL the children a cupcake! Thank you, Miss Roberts! :)

Learning Position and Orientation Language

Drake and Braedyn show they can work together really well to help each other learn. :) New friends, Philippa and Ella working together really nicely and doing a great job of giving / following instructions. :)

Position and Orientation Maths Learning

The children have been loving learning more about position and orientation and are getting really good at using this sort of language! Finding clues hidden around the school by finding map co-ordinate positions. And here we are guiding each other across a mine-field of obstacles with our words...

This Week's Duffy Certificate Winner

Congratulations, Miss Isabel! A worthy winner of this weeks Duffy Certificate for all your hard work as well being a helpful and respectful team member. Ka pai! :)

Well done, Indee!

Hard work rewarded... You are doing really well with your reading programme, Miss Indee. :)

Daily 'Jump Jam' is so much fun! Check out our moves! :)

Not only is dancing (and singing), good for the psyche, and of course it is good for our fitness and  coordination, but it is also good for children's brain development!  Who knew learning could be so much fun?! :)

You've Got A Friend In Me! *Watch our video...

Back at school, post COVID-19, we have been focusing on lots of fun and really enjoying just being back together with all of our friends. As a part of this, we have been doing a bit more singing than usual... there's nothing quite like a good 'ole sing-a-long to lift the spirits, huh?! The children enjoyed making up actions to go with this song we found. We really hope you enjoy it! :)

Fun Story Writing At Home

My Superhero Captain Quack  My Superhero Captain Quack  Hi, I'm Captain Quack. My super power is quacking as loud as I can, when I quack evey one dies. I live in a super video game world. Guess what game it is? …    ...Minecraft. When I am a normal duck I’m naked and when I'm a superhero I wear a cape with a “q”. I have a mum who's called mumseye and a dad who's called dadseye. One day I was doing my normal stuff and next thing I knew a captain koko the evilest duck in the solar system kicked my backside.ouwww! It hurt so badly. When it stopped hurting I got my fish out then slapped him in the face. He started crying. I felt so good so I did 500 more.  By Devin 29/03/2020

Awesome Work, Kids! :)

Friday, Week 1, Term 2 Hi team, It's been lovely to chat to you and your families over the last few days and it is great to hear about all the cool learning that has been going on at home! If you have something you are proud of, please add it to the comments sections of the class blog so we can all see your awesome work at home. I am going to kick us off by sharing some of the work that has been shared with me already... I like your Super Hero, Braedyn! ;)  What a good boy you are, Daniel! Great to see that not only are you doing lots of school work, but you are also helping with the family chores! :) Great to see you having fun at home playing games with your whānau, Roman. And the A-Z poster you made is totally EPIC! :)  Great job everyone, keep up the good work and keep your pictures coming in!

Welcome To Term Two!

Day 1, Week 1, Term 2.   Wednesday 15 April. Ata marie tamariki mā! Welcome back to 'school' ! Crazy days, huh?! Who ever would have thought, when we started school in He Puna Tārei at the beginning of the year, that in just a few short weeks we would be a class of Homeschool kids and families?! Grace, Hokie, Ollie and I all hope you are doing well in your bubbles. Funny aye... how the word 'bubble' has taken on a whole new meaning for all of us over the last few weeks! I'd really love it if you could leave us a message here on the comment thread so we can all keep in touch and share some of what we have been up to. Watch this space!! Here is a photo I took while Grace and our fur babies were out on our daily walk the other day. Hokie is getting old, so he gets a bit tired! He loves it when Grace carries him when we are out 'walking'! :D

Day Five

Kia ora tātau Kei te pēhea koutou? How are you all? Hello from my kitchen table, I hope you are all well and happy with your families. News for me today is a tooth ache. Stupid tooth! *Gggrrr!!* Kia kaha, from Miss Swanston. What is news for you?!

Day Two Daily Dairy

Image
Ata marie tamariki mā! Hope you are well and happy. Here is my first post on our Daily Diary. Please add to it below in the comments thread so we can keep in touch. For today's post I wanted to share a little about one of my beloved fur babies (and my cute kid - who is actually nearly grown up, but don't tell her that! 😉)  Ollie is not hugely enthusiastic about doing his 'high fives' with Grace... situation normal. 😂

Welcome To Learning From Home 2020!

Kia ora from my lounge, Day One :) I hope you are enjoying this special time with your whānau.  Miss Swanston's fur babies are happy to have mum at home with them! Comment on the thread for each day a snippet of what you are up to and how you are feeling, kids. Make sure a grown-up checks what you are writing, to make sure it is appropriate for all to see. *Just a reminder that anyone, from anywhere in the world will be able to see what you post, kids. So think about internet safety- don't chat to strangers, tell anyone where you live, your full name etc. And get your family to help you with your spelling. ;)
